Birch Trees

Lately I've started noticing these birch trees in Naarm/ Melbourne. And I've realized this land is not their home. They are immigrants in this country, just like me. Since then I notice them more and more, and have started to gather a gallery of birch trees in Naarm. They are one of the most popular trees in Latvia.  Everytime I see one, I think of home and I smile (maybe just in my head). I want to explore this connection between immigrant trees and bodies more, as a metaphor. How do trees adjust to different soil and climate? How do they get along with native trees? I also can't stop thinking about birch juice, I bet those people who has one in their garden don't even know about it.
Maybe I'll write something more when I will do more research, but for now I just feel inspired, happy and safe by birch trees.
