anima (2021)
About the project
Anima is a contemporary dance performance exploring Carl Gustav Jung's concept of the collective unconscious- the deepest layer of the human psyche, shared by all people and understood as a source of instinct, creativity, and universal archetypes. Like the instinct that guides fish back to their spawning grounds, each human carries an invisible inner knowledge that exists beyond conscious understanding.
The scenography is inspired by the Tree of Life, a fundamental archetype found across many cultures. Its roots extend deep into the unseen underworld, nourishing a vast crown that reaches above the audience towards the light. The dancers inhabit this living microcosm while simultaneously becoming the tree itself.
A painted backdrop, inspired by the works of Mark Rothko, echoes the performance's exploration of the unseen and the emotional power of abstraction. Together, movement and scenography create an open, immersive environment, inviting audiences to wander through their own inner landscapes and be present with what emerges.
